On 10th/10/24, the Mt. Hagen Protected Area hosted its first official induction meeting, marking the beginning of a crucial journey toward environmental conservation and sustainable development. This meeting was conducted with the Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA) team, partner agencies, and local stakeholders, all gathered with a shared vision: to preserve the rich biodiversity of the Western Highlands Province while fostering sustainable human livelihoods. The Role of GEF7 and FAO This initiative is part of the broader GEF7 project titled "Enabling Sustainable Production Landscapes in the Mt. Hagen Proposed Protected Area for Biodiversity, Human Livelihoods, and Well-being."
